Ripe Or Unripe? The Perfect Time To Eat A Banana Revealed!
Think you should throw out those spotty, ripe bananas? Think again!
It turns out that their nutritional properties change over time.
You may have noticed that the more ripe bananas are, the sweeter they get... that's because the fruit's enzymes progressively break down starch into sugar.
So since the enzymes have already worked hard for you, a ripe banana is easier to digest and you'll get all the benefits sooner.
Japanese researchers have found that antioxidant and anti-cancer properties in bananas actually increase with time.
As black spots begin to appear, the peel produces a substance called TNF (Tumor Necrosis Factor), which can combat cancer and abnormal cells and the darker the spots, the higher the anti-cancer properties.
A ripe banana is actually EIGHT times more effective at boosting your body's immune system than a fresh one.
So get on them ripe bananas and remember, the black spots are your friends!
