Feel better about the news because a Russian cat has saved a baby.
See!! Good things are still happening occasionally!
It’s hard not to be bogged down by the doom and gloom, but occasionally a flicker of light can brighten up the darkness - in this case, the flicker is called Masha, and she’s a cat.
The furry tabby, who lives in and around an apartment block, has saved the life of a baby abandoned in the middle of a snowy Russian winter.
The best part is that she did it by ‘adopting’ the child, climbing into the box the baby had been left in, with the body warmth they shared helping to keep the little boy alive:
“The baby had only been outside for a few hours and thanks to Masha … he was not damaged by the experience,” a hospital spokesman told Central European News.
The feline heroine even mewled at residents to come and help the tot.
“She is very placid and friendly, so when I heard her meowing, I thought that perhaps she had injured herself,” said Irina Lavrova, who discovered the pair. “Normally she would have come and said hello to me. You can imagine my shock when I saw her lying in a box next to a baby.”
The baby was immediately rushed to a local hospital, where he was given a checkup and declared fit and healthy, officials said.
After the baby was taken to the hospital, Masha reportedly waited for the baby to return at the spot where she had found it - but don’t worry, while they might not be reunited soon, the caring kitty is being spoiled rotten, with residents saying they will be giving her her ‘favourite foods’ for a long time to come.
