Experts Are Urging You To Wash Your Bath Towels For The Most Skin Crawling Reason
If you're not washing your towel after a couple washes, you should probably start right now because we have something gross to tell you.
Medical experts have made it apparent that we shouldn't be using our towels any more than three times in a row before chucking it in the laundry... or burning it... and that's assuming that you've hung it up to dry and haven't kept it in a nice little moist pile on the floor.
Why all the fuss? Well, the germs that live inside our towels can cause infections if they come into contact with any cuts on your skin. The most common infection is called coliform bacteria, which can cause some pretty horrendous diarrhoea.
We're not even at the worst part yet. The reason why our towels hold so many nasties is because when we dry ourselves we're transferring our dead skin, fungi, urine and faeces and any other bodily fluids you can think of to the towel... gross, huh?
Let's hope, you're not sharing your towel with someone else. Wiping your own sh*t (literally) all over you is bad enough, let alone someone else's.
If you leave your towel in a ball on the ground you're making matters even worse for yourself as we all know that bacteria thrives in dark moist places.
If you can't remember how long you've been using the same towel, experts say to give it a quick sniff. If you smell a musty odour, get that towel in the washing machine stat as that's the number one sign that it's riddled with bacteria.
Tanning can be a disaster for some people but if you follow these simple steps, you'll glow with confidence this season...
