Here’s The Reason That Making Your Bed Is The Worst Idea Ever
This kind of makes my skin crawl…
Lazy people, rejoice! There’s a reason that you shouldn’t be making your bed in the morning.
Heard of bed bugs? Yeah, those microscopic creatures that live in between your sheets. They’re like tiny beetles and they feed off human skin cells. These dust mites need a warm, damp atmosphere to survive.
Now, when we sleep, we sweat. Apparently we sweat 1L of fluid per night (gross!). This basically creates paradise for the dust mites to thrive and reproduce.
If you leave your bed unmade, you’re exposing the sheets to air and light which dries them out and depletes the bed bugs’ lifelines. If you make your bed, however, you’re trapping your body heat, skin cells and sweat everywhere.
Dr Stephen Pretlove from Kingston University School of Architecture says "We know that mites can only survive by taking in water from the atmosphere ing small glands on the outside of their body.
"Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die.”
Take that, MUM!
