How is The Little Mermaid connected to Guardians of the Galaxy?
5 things about the movie you probs didn't know
5. How is The Little Mermaid connected to the film?
You might remember the kick ass orange and blue star ship from the movie? Remember what it was called? The MILANO. Well James Gunn, the Director of Guardians of the Galaxy confirmed that it was named after Alissa Milano
(she was in Charmed) and SHE was the inspiration for Ariel…The Little Mermaid. So, there you go…
4. Is Rocket the Raccoon real?
Sort of. Rocket was voiced by the bangin’ Bradley Cooper…but the look of the pint sized pocket rocket was actually based on a real Raccoon called OREO!! He’s a social media sensation and slightly cuter than Rocket…slightly.
3. Who was the MOST committed to their role in the movie?
It has to be Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan. She SHAVED her head for her role as Nebula…but really, it had to make the makeup department happy – imagine having to try and hide all of that hair!
2. The one time a selfie got someone a movie role
So you’d say Chris Pratt was a ‘curvier’ guy while he was starring in the TV show Parks and Recreation, but while he was prepping for his role in the film Zero Dark Thirty, he posted a selfie of his newly RIPPED bod…which caught the attention of Director James Gunn. He then approached Chris, auditioned him and BAM he got the part!
1. What the hell does GROOT mean?
Vin Diesel apparently recorded his one line ‘I am GROOT’ over 1,000 times for the film…but after a little questioning of The Google, we’ve actually discovered the meaning of the word (in Dutch). It actually translates as ‘large’. Which is fitting…Groot stands at approx 13 feet tall!!
