Ed Sheeran Disagrees With Bestie Taylor Swift & Defends Spotify
Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift might be best friends but that doesn’t mean they always see eye to eye…
Just this week, Taylor pulled her entire music catalogue from Spotify, with reports the singer is unhappy with royalties made from streaming service.
But her good pal doesn’t see it the same way.
In a recent interview, Ed said Spotify is a great way to get people listening to your album.
“I played to a crowd [at the Glastonbury Festival] that knew all the words to all the songs that had only just come out that week,” he said.
“And it’s because kids were just going on and Spotifying and listening and it really helps an album get out there.”
The 23-year-old British singer has also perviously said that the streaming service helps fuel his tours.
“This album [X] was streamed 26 million times in the first week on Spotify, and that means 26 million people have heard my album,” Ed told The Guardian.
“That means a tenth of them might consider buying a ticket or going to a festival, and that’s enough for me to tour very comfortably.”
Meanwhile, Tay Tay’s latest album 1989 sold over 1.2 million copies in one week so we’re pretty sure she’s not worried about Spotify royalties.
Is this an admission of guilt?
