Anne Hathaway Avoids Shaking Journalist’s Hand Over Ebola Fear?
Anne Hathaway refused to shake hands with an Argentinian journalist reportedly for fear of catching Ebola… but she insists that wasn’t the case.
The actress was at the premiere of her new sci-fi movie Interstellar, along with co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain, and reporter Alexis Puig had made the journey from Buenos Aires to Los Angeles to interview them.
Puig says everyone, including director Christopher Nolan, shook his hand after interviewing them… but not Hathaway.
The annoyed reporter vented his disappointment with the actress on Twitter, which translated to:
“Anne Hathaway didn’t shake my hand because she was she was afraid of ebola #I’mAThirdWorldJournalist.”
But Hathaway’s rep has come out in her defence, saying, “That is nonsense — she wasn’t shaking anyone’s hands because she was coming down with a cold and didn’t want to get anyone sick.”
Puig had nicer things to say about the actress’ co-stars, however.
[Translated] “Christopher Nolan, Matthew McConaughey and Jessica Chastain were great in the interviews [and none of them denied me their hands]. Take that Anne!,” he Tweeted.
And the criticism didn’t stop there. Puig continued to have a go at Hathaway when he was back home in Argentina and made a fair point…
[Translated] “Thank you to everyone for your comments,” he wrote on Twitter. “Luckily I’m already in Buenos Aires, Argentina (city and country free of Ebola)… and at home Anne?”
