Red Carpet Style On A Budget - Rachel Zoe

When the stars hit the red carpet for Friday night's Elle Style Awards it was obvious a black dress is never out of fashion.

Model Sam Harris was rocking an off the rack Witchery number, while Laura Csortan looked smoking in a floor length frock with a middle split.

Rachel Zoe, one of the world's most fashionable women was also repping a black number, a one shoulder dress from her own collection.  She glammed it up with plenty of arm bling and bejeweled hoops earrings.

Coco Chanel once famously said "when accessorizing always take off the last thing you put on" but Zoe doesn't agree. "That rule doesn't not apply to me at all But there is a point at which you say I might have too much on, which I might be at that point but i figured why not I'm in a black dress, just accessorize right?"

So how easy is it to get Zoe's look?  I raided my wardrobe, found a black maxi and went from there. While her arm jewels were mainly courtesy of Cartier, mine were much more conservatively priced from Lovisa. Earrings, yep Lovisa too.

The maj babe always looks striking with thick kohl eyes and lets her bronze skin do the talking (for me that glow needs to come from a can). When it comes to hair, the side part is easy to copy (my tip keep the hair oil at the ready to tame the flyaways) then I just used my straightener to add some body to the ends.

While it's hard to top Rachel Zoe on the red carpet, the overall look isn't that hard to copy. The star herself says all you need is "confidence, honestly confidence and not trying too hard."
