How To Fix The Latest Botched iOS 8 iPhone Update
Apple Forced To Pull The Update After Endless Complaints
If you were one of the unlucky ones who attempted the disastrous iOS 8.0.1 iPhone update, we’ve got some tips on how to get your phone back to normal.
Apple was forced to pull the update after receiving endless complaints from users who were left unable to make calls and who discovered the Touch ID fingerprint recognition was disabled.
It’s been a very unfortunate time for the tech giant, between the “bendy” iPhone 6 design flaw and now this latest botched update.
If you did install the update, here’s how to fix it:
Jump on your computer and download a copy of iOS 8.0 from ipswdownloader.com. Make sure you pick your correct phone model otherwise it won’t install.
If you have Find My iPhone on, you will have to go to Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone and turn this off. You will need to make sure you have your Apple ID and password handy for this step.
Once the file has finished downloading, plug your iPhone into your computer and open up iTunes.
Click on the “iPhone” button in the top right corner of iTunes and then “Check for Update” while simultaneously holding Shift (on Windows) or Option (On Mac).
Now go ahead and find pick the ipsw file you just downloaded and hit OK. From here, your iPhone will install the older version of iOS 8 as an “upgrade”, so it won’t actually delete your settings or files.
If this all seems too hard though, Apple may be releasing another update to fix its problems later today... but if you can't live without a fully functioning phone (like most of us) we recommend the above steps.
The 4Chan community created an Apple branded advert and begun to circulate it on social media.
There is one new unwanted "feature" of the very light phone that is starting to pop up on social media.
And How To Prevent This From Happening
Imagine if you were the first person in line to get the highly coveted iPhone 6. Then you get the chance to show off your new pride and joy on live tv, only to drop it.
