MSN Messenger Turned Off Forever!
Good Bye Old Friend. *Nudge*
For anyone who grew up in the late 90’s / early 2000’s, MSN was a staple to your online habits.
Using a 56k dial up modem, you had to make sure your mum, brother or sister weren’t using the phone so you could get online!
But all good things must come to an end, and after 15 years, MSN Messenger is being turned off forever. :(
Hours spent in front of the computer after school and on weekends, chatting away to friends, family and maybe even that internet crush you met in a chat room. MSN was the go to platform for communication.
Age. Sex. Location. The very first thing you’d see when talking to someone new, (after saying hello of course). It told you how old the other person was, what there gender was, and whether they were near you or not. Simple and elegant, nothing else comes close to ASL.
Emojis are a rip off of Emoticons. There I said it. It all began on MSN Messenger, to be able to express your feelings or moods visually. Emoticons for life!

Insanely stylish Display Names were the lifeblood of the young MSN user. Almost another language but perfectly readable!
Not getting a response from a person on your contact list. No problem. MSN built it a feature to ‘Nudge’ your friend - giving them a visual and audible alert. This is a Facebook ‘Poke’ on steroids.
BRB, LOL, TTYL, G2G, ILY
MSN Messenger was about being fast. The quicker you can type, the more people you could talk to, the more conversations you had. A way Messenger users quickened the process was to come up with clever acronyms. BRB = Be Right Back, LOL = Laugh Out Loud, TTYL = Talk To You Later.
Sorry, Wrong Person!
Nothing is more embarrassing than having a conversation with your crush open, and in another chat window a conversation with a family member or someone else important, and writing the wrong message in the wrong window. the only response that could possibly follow was “Sorry, wrong person”.
You sneaky person! Still want to chat, but not let everyone know you’re online? Oh MSN delivered yet again with this delightful feature.
