Mia Freedman Criticised For Comparing Gay People To Paedophiles
Mia Freedman has apologised after comments she made on The Project last night that compared gay people and paedophiles.
Freedman came under fire on social media, making the comments during a discussion about the need for a national paedophile register.
"We accept that gay people can't change who they love and who they're sexually attracted to, so why do we think that people who are sexually attracted to children can be rehabilitated?" she said.
"Name and shame them. I want to know where they are."
What followed was a pretty strong reaction on social media.
The media personality took to twitter herself to say sorry for what she's called a lousy analogy. She says she's been a longtime and fierce support of marriage equality and the LGBTQI community and mortified she may have caused offence.
While it seems she did have some support from the online world. Some taking to twitter to say they understood it just didn't come across the right way.
