Here’s our hot tip: give these Australian shows a chance!

Tomorrow When The War Began

Your favourite John Marsden book series is coming to the small screen. With a different cast to the 2010 movie, this six-part series will air on ABC3 in April. When Ellie and her friends go on a camping trip to Hell, they don’t expect to come back and find… Hell.

Australian Survivor

Finally, Australia is getting what we deserve: our own version of Survivor. Let’s forget the travesty that was the original Australian Survivor (filmed in a cold, dusty part of South Australia) and Celebrity Survivor which featured one of the worst twists of all time (well-nourished players who had been voted out were brought back and won every challenge over the starving and tired people left in the game). We believe that this time Channel Ten will do us proud.

Based on the life and times of Ian “Molly” Meldrum, this two-part Channel 7 miniseries sees Samuel Jackson taking on the role of Australian music’s most beloved character. Expect to see a whole host of well known actors playing musicians from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Set in the near future, a group of non-humans have to battle for survival in a world where humans feel increasingly inferior and want to silence, exploit and kill them. This joint Australian-American-New Zealand production features a stellar international cast, including Iain Glen from Game Of Thrones. The series is an original concept commissioned by the ABC TV Indigenous Department.

Kiss Bang Love

Everyone loves a dating show, right? Channel 7 is taking finding love on TV to extremes by focusing on one very special moment in every relationship: the first kiss. Contestants will be matched with a group of potential partners, and will choose their favourites through a blindfolded kiss.
