Adam Yauch of famous rap group the Beastie Boys has passed away from cancer at just 47 years old.
His publicist released a statement today.
"It is with great sadness that we confirm that musician, rapper, activist and director Adam 'MCA' Yauch ... passed away in his native New York City this morning after a near-three-year battle with cancer. He was 47 years old."
The Beastie Boys were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month, but Yauch couldn't make it due to his illness. During that time he released a statement about his condition.
"Hello My Friends - while I'm grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer free are exaggerated...I'm continuing treatment, staying optimistic, and hoping to be cancer free in the near future."
Adam was well known to the Dalai Lama, whom he met with several times while being ill. He was blessed by the Dalai Lama last July. A rep for the Dalai Lama had this to say.
"Adam had helped us raise awareness on the plight of the Tibetan people by organizing various freedom Tibet concerts and he will be remembered by his holiness and the Tibetan people."
Adam, along with Mike D and Ad Rock, founded the Beastie Boys in 1979 in New York City.
RIP Adam.

E! presenter Giuliana Rancic is recovering at home after a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. The TV presenter was diagnosed with breast cancer in August.
"I'm feeling good and I'm happy to be back home," she said on Friday.
"It's been tough, but I'm trying to stay strong and manage the pain," she said. "I have a newfound respect for women who have been through breast cancer and this surgery."....Read More

There is sad news from celeb land today. E! News hostess and star of her own show, Giuliana Rancic has revealed that she has breast cancer.
She appeared on the Today Show in America and opened up about the new battle in her life.

The 36 year old has been trying to get pregnant, and whilst undergoing IVF treatment doctors insisted that she had a mammogram and the cancer was discovered. She says, “I think a lot of us think we’re invisible, and women these days, we’re busier than ever. But we have to start putting ourselves on the to-do list.”
She will be having surgery and radiation treatment and is determind to get better.
Giuliana vows not to give up on her dreams of becoming a Mum, saying "I want that baby, and what’s amazing is that that baby will have saved my life.”

Kylie Minogue has broken down in tears on TV...and it was long time friend Molly Meldrum that made her cry!
In an interview on Channel Seven's 'Sunday Night' show, she spoke about cancer, marriage and family...and it all got too much for the superstar singer.

Oprah has just given Kristian Anderson and his family $250k to cover medical costs and spend more time together.
As well as the above Oprah and her team have also given every kid & teacher at Sydney's Canterbury Boys High a laptop and they're renovating the library & music room. The gift is worth $1 million!

Sydneysider Kristian Anderson, 35, has been having chemotherapy since he was diagnosed with cancer in October 2009. He made this video for his wife of seven years, Rachel, as a birthday present and a thank-you for her support.
The video features cameos by New Zealand Prime Minister John Key – since Rachel is a Kiwi – and the gorgeous Hugh Jackman!
"He loves you Rachel ... he loves you," Hugh says in the video, which also features Kristian and Rachel's two young sons Cody, 3, and Jakob, 1.
