Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their three-year-old daughter Suri have touched down in Melbourne for a three month stint in Melbourne.

They landed at Essendon Airport in their private jet early this afternoon before a white Audi 4WD with tinted windows, escorted by a black Audi sedan drove them past an awaiting media scrum and towards Crown Casino.

ScandalAnt understands media and gaming mogul James Packer has given the Cruises his Crown Towers penthouse to use while Holmes works on her latest movie in Melbourne.

She will star, alongside Aussie actor Guy Pearce, in the remake of 1973 TV horror movie Don’ Be Afraid of the Dark, to be shot at Docklands.

Cruise and Packer have been long-time mates, brought together through their involvement with the ‘Church of Scientology’.

Cruise, 46, a high-profile ambassador for the religion earlier this year revealed why he might be such a dedicated follower, suggesting the religion had helped cure him of dyslexia.

“I asked myself if I was normal or an idiot. I would try to concentrate but I felt anxiety, frustration, boredom. When I graduated from high school in 1980 I was functionally illiterate,” Cruise said.

“Nobody gave me a solution and I wanted to know why the system had failed. Finally, as an adult I learned to read perfectly through the method of (Scientology’ late founder) L Ron Hubbard.”
