I can’t believe that Danny Green, a proud champion, would sell out for a quick pay cheque! I wonder though about a washed up boxer who has nothing to lose and a quarter of a million dollars to gain??
Was anyone at the fight? It must have been mayhem!
The Western Australian Professional Combat Sports Commission will be holding an inquiry into Wednesday's fight after Briggs was felled by a seemingly light punch from Green. Danny Green's knockout win over Paul Briggs for the IBO cruiserweight title will be investigated after concerns were raised over the bout which lasted a stunning 29 seconds. There have been allegations of a suspicious rush of last minute bets placed on Green winning by knockout in the first round. Doubts were also raised before the event regarding the fitness level of Briggs. The fight had been moved from Sydney to Perth after the New South Wales State Combat Sports Authority refused to OK the fight due to concerns for the welfare of Briggs who they felt was not match fit after his three year sabbatical due to health problems.
Green, Briggs and their management certainly have a rocky road ahead and I have mixed a knockout version myself!
Almond and Coconut Rocky Road
Ingredients
600g good quality dark chocolate
1 tbsp vegetable oil
150g marshmallows
1 cup toasted shaved coconut
1 ½ cup toasted almonds
6 x 38g Cadbury Turkish Delight (cut into eight pieces each)
Method
Place the chocolate into a glass bowl over simmering water. Allow the chocolate to melt, stir in the oil and cool to room temperature. Place all ingredients into a large bowl and mix thoroughly then pour into a lined lamington tray and spread evenly. Tap the tray on the bench a few times, allowing the chocolate to fill any gaps. Refrigerate for at least an hour then cut into desired size.
