Staring: Ryan Reynolds, Isla Fischer, Abigail Breslin
Fans of Van Wilder: Party Liaison and Blade Three will find a very different Ryan Reynolds to the one they are used to seeing in this romantic comedy. He plays Will Hayes, a single father relating the story of How I Met Your Mother to his daughter Maya (little miss sunshine's Abigail Breslin). The twist is Will has changed the name's in the story so its up to Maya , and us, to guess who her mum is.
Ryan Reynolds is great as the hopeless-in-relationships (and politics) William. He continually falls in and out of relationships with the three girls in his life until the story he is telling catches up to the present day and we finally find out who he married and started a family with, but is that the girl he really loves?
This is from the folks that brought you Bridget Jones diary and 4 weddings and a funeral so they know how to put a good chick flick together. And this is a good chick flick. All the female leads have chemistry with Reynolds and I was genuinely surprised to find out who the mother actually was. Its funny, and the whole thing benefits greatly from the addition of Isla fisher as April. Everything she has been in recently she's been great, wedding crashers, hot rod ,home and away. Well maybe not home and Away…..
Kind of a love story whodunit (or should that be who'd-he-do?) Definitely Maybe is a cut above the average romantic-comedy and perfect for a cold winters night on the couch.
Quotable Notables
April: You and me, it'd kinda be like cats and dogs.
Will Hayes: Oil and water.
April: Sand paper and bare ass.
Maya: PENIS! PENIS! PENIS!
