Gabriella Hits The ARIAs For Six - ARIAs Night In Review

This time last year she was just an unknown. This year Gabriella Cilmi, the 17-year-old singing sensation, is the toast of the ARIA Awards, going home with all six awards she was nominated for.

Shining in a short gold dress that was part glamour, part Xena Warrior Princess, the beauty from Dandenong took home the prestigious Single of the Year (for 'Sweet About Me'), Best Female, Best Pop, Highest Selling Single, Best Breakthrough Artist - Single and Album.

"This is a bit mental," she said during her sixth speech of the night, this time for Single of the Year. "I feel like I should be saying something important, but I just don't know what else to say."

Gabriella's goldrush meant fellow acts like Sam Sparro (who tripped on his shirt-muu-muu during his performance), The Veronicas and Faker went home empty-handed.

Even Pink's blockbuster performance - which kicked off her riding a lawnmower on-stage and featured pyro, a graffiti'd car and a slippery dip - couldn't distract from Cilmi's dominance. She did her best though, wearing black hotpants, a black top unbuttoned all the way down to show off her black bra.

Electronic duo The Presets also got their just desserts, scoring Best Dance (obviously), Best Group and the biggest accolade of the night, Album of the Year for Apocalypso. They performed their huge hit 'My People' live, dressed in capes, feathers and kid's toys, looking like futuristic junkshop shamans.

Elsewhere, The Living End won Best Rock while Delta Goodrem earned herself Highest Selling Album. Perth mood rockers The Panics took the title of Best Adult Contemporary, Bliss n Eso won Best Urban and Silverchair and Powderfinger took out Best Music DVD.
