Parklife 2009

Review
Sydney was threatened by two kinds of storms over the October long weekend. One took the NRL Premiership back to Melbourne. The other hung over Parklife but stopped short of drenching the massive crowd.
However, Parklife was nothing short of spectacular - Little Boots brought indie chic to the stage, Lady Sovereign brought dirty hip hop to the muddied punters, and the likes of MSTRKRFT, Crystal Castles and A-Trak got us into a dancy mood as night approached.
To round off the evening, the bright colours, amazing costumes and luscious beats from Empire of the Sun and La Roux ensured that Parklife 2009 was truly an unforgettable work of art.
Highlight
With their dancers sporting amazing costumes, for a moment we thought Lady Gaga was sharing the stage with Empire of the Sun's Luke Steele (as Nick Littlemore's replacement). Nonetheless Empire were the bright lights that shone bright on Parklife night.
Lowlight
The weather had trouble making up its own damn mind!

Parklife Festival Details
Parklife is back this Sept/Oct bringing with it another shipment of exciting local and international dance heavyweights.
Hip hop heads and hipsters alike are in for a dangerously huge day with acts from Australia’s own psychedelic darlings, Empire Of The Sun to electro master Claude Von Stroke (“The Whistler”) to Canada’s very own MSTRKFRT, who, by the way, we are dancing to just thinking about.
Pint sized, foul mouthed and with attitude from here to Ol’ Blighty, Lady Sovereign is here all the way from North London and set to rock the stage in the wake of her latest album, Jigsaw. Listen out for The Cure’s sample in ‘So Human’, undoubtedly the best track off her album.
Others not to miss are Sydney’s own Art Vs Science, Tiga (Canada), The Cool Kids (USA), The Glimmers (Belgium), Little Boots (UK), Metric (Canada) and La Roux (UK) – the latter 3 playing their first ever Australian shows.
Tip: Leggings and tights aren’t pants and heart shaped sunnies shouldn’t be seen on anyone over 23, male or female.

I was SO looking forward to Lady Sov, at Brissy Parklife she was put on this pissy little stage, there crowd was so massive by the time we got there we were so far back we couldn't even hear her, very disappointed.......
