Others want to draw comparisons between Madonna and Lady Gaga, but what's the point? They're both pop revolutionaries who have pushed boundaries in their own right. Let's look at Lady Gaga's Australian tour, two hours of high energy, loud and unashamedly proud pop.
Lady Gaga took us on a journey to the Monster Ball - starting off in a battered green Rolls Royce through a New York-style neighbourhood complete with fire escapes and neon lights. Joined by her dancers they took the subway, got caught in a tornado and encountered unusual creatures.
I lost count at eight costume changes (I've been reliably told that there were sixteen). Gaga dressed like a racy nun, an angel with moving parts, a giant frilly tassel and so much more.
She had truly shaken off whatever exhaustion she may have suffered from her heated concert in Auckland. Gaga was leopard-like in appearance and movement for Poker Face, and gave the beast in Paparazzi a run for its money.
Contrary to rumours, George Michael did not perform, nor did Beyonce turn up for Gaga's bikni-clad Telephone. Not that it mattered anyway.
The show was emotionally charged too, with Gaga on one hand tearfully thanking her fans for their support during Speechless (performed with a burning baby grand piano), and on the other, demanding the best from them. "I will die without you. Will you let me die? Scream for me!"
Disco stick in hand (which also doubled as a high-powered floodlight), the thanking continued.
Gaga made sure the audience left on a high, rounding off the night with Bad Romance and draping her shiny, spiky and metallic shoulders with the Australian flag.
Not a single little monster butt cheek touched a seat at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, which was filled to capacity. We all stood up and went on the ride of our lives.
Highlight
It was a visual feast - the costumes, the staging. Kudos to the promoters and Gaga's people for moving the show to a bigger arena. There's also the bit where she sung live - for the whole show.
Lowlight
Gaga's language got a little blue at times which might've worried those mums and dads who brought their kids with them.
