Britney Rules MTV Awards - Read The Wrap-Up Posted by Music 8 September, 2008 - 11:44 AM

Britney Spears 2008 MTV

In a surefire sign Britney Spears is on the mend, the troubled singer owned this year's MTV Awards, winning all three awards she was nominated for.

The singer - who's been more infamous for her custody battles, rehab visits and last year's awards shambles in the last two years - looked both hot and healthy as she took out awards for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for her single 'Piece of Me' from last year's Blackout album.

Britney's acceptance speeches were short and sweet as she thanked God, her two beautiful sons and her fans. Earlier, her over-hyped 'opening of the MTV Awards' was just that - a bad skit with Superbad's Jonah Hill and then a quick introduction to Rihanna performing 'Disturbia' live. That was it.

Despite a high-powered guest list that starred Paris Hilton, Pete Wentz, Ashlee Simpson and Jamie Foxx, this year's awards were largely underwhelming and all over the place. Imported English comedian Russell Brand seemed a poor choice, partly because most of the US seemingly has no idea who he is and mostly because too many of his jokes fell flat with a resounding thud.

Rihanna performed again for some reason while Katy Perry's rather tame performance of Madonna's 'Like a Virgin' into her own hit 'I Kissed A Girl' was remarkably free of any girl-on-girl controversy (snore!). Yummy mummy Christina Aguilera borrowed Lady Gaga's look while lip-synching large parts of a new version of 'Genie in a Bottle' and new song 'Keeps Getting Better'.

Pink proved a saving grace with a huge performance of 'So What' on the Paramount backlot set complete with pyro, flames and a smokin' black jumpsuit.

But anyways, it's all about the winners of the night... italicised below!

Good on ya' Brit. It's about time people started treating her right.

What's this rot saying Rihannas hair was a disater, i say she has wonderful hair. Plus she's hot!
Her performance with T.I. was awesome.

But my fave moment was when Linkin Park took home best rock vid, they deserve it. They rule, LP 4 ever.

Plus, the Slipknot moment was hilarious.

    I say she's doing well.
Unlike the insecure yet large (probably in more ways than one) amount of people who buy Who Weekly and other magazines which slandered poor Brit I actually felt sorry for her the entire way through but knew that she would come back fine. She's doing well, so far so good... Shame on the Australian and American fatties who felt the need to put her down (YES, BUYING THOSE MAGAZINES WAS A WAY OF PUTTING HER DOWN YOU INSECURE FATTIES) - but even so, YAY FOR BRIT!!!!! :D
