Should Britney perform at the MTV Awards? Posted by Music 1 July, 2008 - 11:59 AM

Britney Spears

Will Britney Spears be performing at this year's MTV Awards? And more importantly, given her tragic trainwrecking of 'Gimme More' at last year's, should she?

Our Hollywood correspondent Richard Reid reports that MTV have once again offered the struggling popstar a spot at this year's event which takes place in Los Angeles on September 7.

Admittedly, Britters does seem to be in a better place these days, even if a 'better place' in Britworld just means NOT shaving your head or attacking cars in umbrella or flashing the world like she did last year.

This time around in 2008, she's already released her relatively successful Blackout album and is reportedly already back in the studio working on new music.

Personally, we think Britney should pike on this year's award (or maybe just present an award?) and take a year off, put her feet up and be a mum. Surely the girl - and her fans - can live without the spotlight for a little while?

I agree. What the girl needs is a long break. Most artists release an album, promo it, tour and then disappear... she needs a break and so do we.

Bring it Britney I say... she needs to show everyone that she's back on track and ready to kick ass. Then everyone will forget about last year...

She has a lot more to lose than gain by doing it and everyone will be super critical on her. She's an idiot if she does it...
