Britney Circus Tour - Your Say Posted by Music 8 November, 2009 - 2:12 PM
The Britney Spears circus opened in Perth on Friday night - and by 11pm critics were calling the show a disaster. But was it as bad as they made out? Let us know what you think.
From what we can tell some Britney fans said it was a joyride, while others thought it was a train wreck.
Britney's show opened with "Circus". As dominatrix circus performers were lowered to the stage, fans sat on the edge of their seats expecting the greatest show on earth (those sitting up the back had to sit on the edge of their seats because they couldn't see her due to there being no giant screens!).
We got the sparkly costumes, amazing sets, gruelling dance routines, and hits including "Gimme More", "Radar", "Boys" and "If You Seek Amy".
Sets were minimalist but ever-changing as bits and pieces were raised and lowered over the circular stage. There was furniture, giant picture frames, a lion cage (sans lion!) and the traditional magician box that Brit entered to be "cut" into three.
Britney constantly changed costume for effect - going from one-piece to two-piece, from faux fur to Bollywood and a sexy cop costume for her final song 'Womanizer'. All the costume changes meant that Britney often went missing leaving the audience waiting - having to watch a sexy video of her while a Marilyn Manson voice sang 'Sweet Dreams'; another time it was left to the dancers to fill the spot.
But the big news was the lip-syncing. Not surprised were you? Brit's rep as lip syncher goes way back. The Britney camp says her stage show is just to complicated for her to dance and sing at the same time. But was Britney's dancing up to scratch? Was she out-crumped and out-shimmied by her backup dancers?
Another complaint from fans was Britney's lack of interaction with the crowd. It took Britney six songs until she finally spoke to the crowd: "Whazzup Australia... Your country is beautiful".
The concert can be summed up in highlights & lowlights
Highlights
Glittery costumes including a tribute to Bollywood
Sets that were lowered from the ceiling
Baby One More Time - we didn't know if she'd go there
Britney was in great shape
Britney's dancers
The final song Womaniser was the sexiest with Brits in a sexy cop uniform
Lowlights
The round stage was a bad idea because it meant at various times all you could see was Britney's (well-toned) backside.
Lip synching (not that we were surprised)
Brits disappeared for too long in costume changes leaving the dancers crumping to DJ music
MIA songs included Oops I Did It Again and the latest single 3

I went to see the FINE MISS BRITNEY SPEARS....Twice!
As a TRUE fan of hers, since the beginning, I know that Miss Spears is an ENTERTAINER!
She's not the artist who sings with the band, nor is she the artist who never showers and strums her guitar whining about her life.... SHE ENTERTAINS....
And both Friday and Saturday nights here in poor little small minded Perth, she ROCKED THE JOINT!
She performed like the PERFORMER she is.... She looked fabulous and her show was AWESOME... I'd see her everyday of the week!!
It saddens me to think that the Media, instead of supporting the few acts that bother to come to Perth, rip them to shreds and don't think about the consequences of their actions that fall on the fans that live here. Is Perth turning into a city of HATERS?

Britney was great no matter what anyone says, she entertained us and thats really all that counts.
Do you really expect her to run around huffing and puffing while trying to sing. At least she even came to Perth - that's something. She sung one of her songs "Everytime" and that was greeat =]
She should have interacted with the crowd more though, it was like she just came here for her own benefit and didn't care that she was here. And instead of saying hi australia she should have said hi Perth haha :)

I went to the Britney show on the Friday in Perth and I thought it was fab! I didn't care that she lip-synced, the dancing and the clowns and acrobates were great. I couldn't move my eyes off her!
Yeh so what if she mimed but it's Britney Spears! When will we ever see her again? I don't regret one bit of it. The only thing I was disappointed in is that Perth don't have flat screens so from where I was sitting I couldn't see her face.
Everyone I know that went enjoyed it, it's al the ppl who didn't go to the show that are giving her crap for lip-syncing. I say if u weren't there to see it don't judge.
Britney looks absolutely gorgeous!

Britney was awesome. I met a few of the dancers as well as Britney's personal assistant, all of whom were lovely. One of the dancers actually gave me and a couple of my friends tickets to the Saturday show, which I found to be better than Friday night's performance.
To everyone who is disappointed at Britney not singing - how about you try and dance like that and sing at the same time? It's not possible. We would be bored if Britney was just standing there for 2 hours singing.
I would much rather her lipsync and be as entertained as I was by the circus and the dancing. She is a performer and an entertainer, as well as a singer... cut her some slack. Caroline

She was just ok not outstanding but the stage set up was crap. I payed $399.80 for 2 tickets and thinking it was diamond SEATING but got crap seats. There was a piller right in front of us the whole time and then only got to see her a few times on the side.
If I knew that I would have got the cheepest tickets. If i knew that i'm going to see a pillar all nite so disappointed i expected better for so much money.

I went Friday and thought it was awesome!!
I think the media should give her a break... she made the choice to come all the way to Australia and even us here in Perth... SOAK IT UP!!!
She has been around for at least 10 years and it's taken her that long to come here so why all the negativity????
she didn't have to come here - she chose too... and if i were her, i wouldn't wanna bother coming here again after all the crap she has been given.Stage was AWESOME, she looks FREAKIN HOOOOTTTTT and she did a fantastic job...
Love ya Brit :)

I went on Saturday night and thought she was great. I am a big Britney fan and thought she did a great job! Bit disappointing that there weren't any big screens for us in the seats.
But everyone should give her a break, no stars will want to come back to Perth if everyone keeps carrying on on how they are. She made the trip all the way here the least we can do is be welcoming!!

I'd go see her again anyday! -

Hello everyone,
I got Britney tickets for the saturday on a promotion for $50. Pretty good value for money. I thought it was amazing great show. I dont care if she lip sings. she put on a great show.
But in saying this I would also understand why people didnt like her show, I wouldnt have paid over $200 for tickets.
I grew up listening to her and it was pretty overwhelming for me to see her live. It was great to see her so up close and have her perform my favourites.
also a great layout with her in the middle of burswood dome. We were much closer than any other concer ive been too.
Ill love her forever.
