There's Now A UB40 Inspired Red Red Wine That You Can Actually Buy
They're grape experts!
If you’ve ever wondered what British reggae legends UB40 were singing about in their song Red Red Wine, now you’ve got the chance to find out.
UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey (who tour separately from the rest of their former bandmates) just released their very own wine… which is literally called Red Red Wine.
"This limited edition cuvée of Red Red Wine was created through the partnership between Eminent Life and UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey, founding members of Britain‘s biggest reggae band who sold over 70 million records as they took their smooth yet rootsy musical blend to all corners of the globe," an online description says.
"Produced from a subtle blend of two grape varieties, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this cuvée represents a perfect expression of the two varieties used in Bordeaux."
The wine apparently "pairs well with roasted or grilled meats and cheese".
However the other UB40 line up (who simply tour under UB40) are not too happy about this whole thing.
A UB40 spokesman told the Mirror, "UB40 have absolutely nothing to do with this product, It is a cheap and frankly embarrassing publicity stunt by ex members."
The song Red Red Wine was originally performed by Neil Diamond, who is not releasing his own wine.
