BREAKING: Body Discovered In Melbourne Parkland

Police are on the scene after the discovery of a body in parkland in Melbourne's north - The Age reports. 

The body was discovered near Mahoneys Road in Fawkner about 11.50am on Tuesday morning.

Police have cordoned off an area in a public park in Fawkner after the discovery about 11.50am.

Victoria Police First Constable Felicia Russ told the Herald Sun police are on the scene.

“Police will investigate to determine the circumstances surrounding the death,” she said.

Homicide Squad detectives are on their way to the scene.

A group of council workers had been in the area mowing nature strips about the time of the discovery, she said. 

The body was found in a cluster of bushes about 5m from the side of the busy road, which passes over the Metropolitan Ring Rd.

There closest residential property is about 100m away and there appears to be no CCTV in the area.
