One Child Dead After Gastro Outbreak In NSW

It has been confirmed by NSW Health that a child has died following a gastro outbreak in Sydney.

7 News is reporting that the cause of death has not been confirmed, however there have been six children aged 11 months to 4-years-old who have had gastroenteritis. All the children attended the same lower north shore childcare centre.

Four out of the six children were hospitalised, and two were sent home fully recovered.

As it stands, specialists are working with the Public Health Unit to confirm the cause of death.

Parents of the children at the child care centre have been provided with advice and health information.

Gastro is a common illness that causes vomiting and diarrhoea. It is not usually serious but can cause dehydration.
