Is The Gold Coast Getting A New $800 Million Theme Park?

Looks like Nerang on the Gold Coast could home Queensland's next major theme park, with a Chinese developer reportedly behind a push for a "cultural" tourist attraction.

There's reports Songcheng Performance Developement is eyeing off a 40 hectare slice of flood-prone land, close to Metricon Stadium.

The company's current attraction portfolio includes indoor skiiing facilies, a water park and a "romance" park in China.

It's understood the proposed $800 million Gold Coast park would feature an “Aboriginal Cultural Village” a “Wild Australia” stage show and a “Mysterious Orient” precinct.

It is not the only new theme park that has been proposed on the Gold Coast.

In August, plans were unveiled for a Disney-sized theme park in a proposed super-city development on land that is currently used to grow sugar cane on the northern Gold Coast.
