Dermatologists Have Revealed The Grossest Thing In Your Shower & It'll Make Your Skin Crawl!
Well this is just revolting...
If you do one thing that’s good for you this week – throwing out your shower puff might be a good bet.
Those colourful exfoliating puffs are, according to dermatologists, a breeding zone for bacteria.
J. Matthew Knight, from the Knight Dermatology Institute, spoke to the New York Post andexplained why these seemingly innocent shower accessories should be ditched for good:
By using them to exfoliate, dead skin cells nestle and get trapped in the copious amounts of netting.
"Then," Knight explains, "you put them in this environment in the shower that's warm and moist and gross, and it’s a setup for bacteria, yeast and mold to grow in the puff."
If you use these after shaving the bacteria can get into nicks and lead to infections.
If you are addicted to them – expects suggest washing them everyday and making sure they dry.
Needless to say if they start to smell or go mouldy you need to bin them.
