If You Get Easily Distracted At Work You Might Just Be A Genius
If you find yourself getting easily distracted at work, it turns out that it might not be such a bad thing.
According to a recent study by Steelcase, people who find it hard to focus on one thing at a time at work might actually be intellectually superior to their fellow colleagues.
The information was compiled by looking at 10,000 workers across 17 different countries.
Apparently, the average worker gets distracted once every three minutes and unsurprisingly it turns out technology isn’t helping either. With the increased use of technology in the workplace, us office workers are finding it easier to succumb to distractions.
Psychiatrist Dr Ned Hallowell told the Telegraph:
“The cleverest people find it difficult to prioritise their ideas, with the distractions potentially leading to a feeling of inadequacy and inability to deal with the workload as a whole.”
Boston Ljubic, the Steelcase Vice President, added.
“Employers are always on the lookout for the brightest people, however, the difficulty to withstand multiple tasks and distractions affects smart people in the same way as everyone else, if not more”
So it’s kind of like your brain has 150 tabs open.
