The Selfie That Found A Stolen iPhone

Tags: Selfie, iPhone

An Australian woman has had her iPhone returned to her after it was stolen a couple of weeks ago.

Nicola Shelton from Melbourne had her bag taken while on holiday in Byron Bay.  In her bag was credit cards, her wallet and an iPhone.

But what happened next lead to the return of her phone.

The new owner took a selfie and uploaded it to her Facebook page.

Nicola quickly grabbed the picture off her page, and then reuploaded it with the caption "So this is the low life that stole my bag/iPhone and has decided to take a photo with my phone and post it on my Facebook!! Scum! Bag stolen in Byron bay on February 14, please share to everyone!!!"

Over 20,000 shares were made from this post until she heard from the man in the photo.

He said he'd purchased the phone from someone without knowing that it was stolen, and returned it to Byron Bay police who in turn gave it back to Nicola.

"I'm just amazed by the help from people I don't even know," she told Daily Mail Australia.

"I'm happy to get my phone back."
