Despite the cloudy weather forecast, Sydney was treated to a stunning supermoon last night!
A “supermoon" (official name perigee moon) occurs when the moon is full and is in a close orbit to Earth. However, this month’s full moon was special – NASA is actually calling it an “extra-supermoon”. This is because the moon was full just two hours after its closest approach to Earth. It appeared in the night sky bigger and brighter than it’s been in 70 years.
